WWII History: Probably the largest and bloodiest battle fought by the American army, the Battle of the Bulge was Hitler’s futile attempt to split the Allied forces in two and take the city of Antwerp. Problems were many including the fact that the Germans would have to cross four major rivers in the midst of the worst winter in 50 years. Duane E. Shaffer discusses the strategy and tactics of this monumental battle.
