The Atlantic War was the longest campaign in World War Two and ran from September 1939 to May 1945 (5 years, 8 months and 5 days). Winston Churchill once said: “The only thing that ever really frightened me during the war was the U-boat peril.” The North Atlantic was a critical front during the Second World War. Had Germany succeeded in severing the supply line of American ships and aid the war might have been lost. The war was still going Hitler’s way and England would have had to sue for peace. We will be focusing on just one year: 1942. Join Duane E. Shaffer for a discussion of this important campaign.
