Scott Turow is the author of many bestselling works of fiction, including The Last Trial, Testimony, Identical, Innocent, Presumed Innocent, and The Burden of Proof, and two nonfiction books, including One L, about his experience as a law student. The most recent is legal thriller The Last Trial His books have been translated into more than 40 languages, sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, and have been adapted into movies and television projects. He has frequently contributed essays and op-ed pieces to publications such as the New York TimesWashington PostVanity FairThe New Yorker, and The Atlantic. Despite his literary success, Turow remained an active lawyer, and worked as an advocate for causes like overturning wrongful convictions and capital punishment reform. He served on an Illinois commission studying capital punishment, and wrote a non-fiction book called Ultimate Punishment that helped lead the way for the state to abandon the death penalty. He his wife, Adriane, live in Naples, Florida for the majority of the year. In 2020, he retired from his Chicago law firm, though he’s still continuing his pro bono work. He also devotes his time to promoting literacy, education, and legal rights.
