Program Description

Event Details

Students will participate in all three specialized labs to gain a better understanding of the creatures both big and small that are found in South West Florida’s marine environments. Plankton Lab - Young scientists will use microscopes to discover life within a drop of water from the ocean. Identifying and learning about the smallest plants and animals in the marine environment will highlight their importance. Creature Feature- Students will become behavioral scientists while we investigate the characteristics and behaviors of local sea creatures. Using their senses of touch and sight, young scientists will identify various creatures that call SW Florida marine habitats home. Squid Dissection- We will investigate the unusual, almost otherworldly, squid through a dissection. Young scientists will learn how the form and function of a squid’s anatomy help this efficient predator survive in the ocean. Presented by Sanibel Sea School.
