Program Description

Event Details

Tarpon Bay Explorers is the one and only concession to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. But, what does that mean exactly? What is a concession? What is the relationship between Tarpon Bay Explorers and the Refuge? These are common questions heard by the eco-tour company that warrants  further examination. After all, the Refuge itself covers a third of Sanibel and is a large draw for tourists, and locals, alike to either visit or call the island home. Adam Sauerland, General Manager of Tarpon Bay Explorers will dive into the company’s mission and relationship with “Ding” Darling while also highlighting the eco-tour industry’s important role in the stewardship of protected lands like “Ding” Darling
