DESCRIPTION:Patton's Lorraine campaign encompasses the operations of 
 the U.S. Third Army in the Lorraine region of eastern France from Septembe
 r 1 through December 18, 1944. Operationally, the Lorraine campaign includ
 es the assaults across the Moselle and Sauer Rivers and the push to the Ge
 rman frontier during the first half of December 1944. The forts around Met
 z saw some of the most vicious fighting of the war. The tank battles at A
