DESCRIPTION:The Atlantic War was the longest campaign in World War Two and
ran from September 1939 to May 1945 (5 years, 8 months and 5 days). Wi
nston Churchill once said: “The only thing that ever really frightened m
e during the war was the U-boat peril.” The North Atlantic was a critica
l front during the Second World War. Had Germany succeeded in severing the
supply line of American ships and aid the war might have been lost. The w
ar was still going Hitler’s way and England would have had to sue for pe
ace. We will be focusing on just one year: 1942. Join Duane E. Shaffer for
a discussion of this important campaign.
